Commemoration of the World AIDS Day “Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility”

In Commemoration of the World AIDS Day on 1st December 2020, Association for Women Empowerment Cameroon- AWEC in collaboration with the Change Care Foundation (CCF) and the Association for the Socially Vulnerable (ASOV) mobilized over 50 persons including internally displaced women and girls from the North West and South West Regions in Bonaberi, Douala – Cameroon. The objective was to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS epidemic and to donate food and non-food items to the participants.
The event was graced by Health expert- Founder of Change Care Foundation Mrs. Vivian Kiffa Vivi Kiffa, Gender Activists Quinta Yuochi, blogger & public figure, Harriet Thatcher and Youth Parliamentarian & CEO for AWEC Hon. Epeti Ndive
Guided by the 2020 theme: “Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Resilience and Impact”, the speakers educated the participants about their fundamental rights, the elimination of Gender-Based Violence and encouraged them towards financial independence. The collaborating organizations intend to continue with the needs assessment of the participants in order to support them towards income-generating activities.
